At the Pain Centre we have a belief that there are many aspects to treating chronic pain. Below you can see the methods we can use, in discussion with you, while you are part of the Pain Centre.

1.Physical or Structural Treatment
Physical reconditioning and movement is very important to improve functioning.
Hands-on therapy and gentle movement is beneficial to both the mind and body, to release tension in the body, help body re-alignment and to activate neuronal connections.
The movements consist of Brain Gym® movements and Rhythmic Movement Training (RMT). These movements are always done gently and with feedback from the you while you are having treatment.
Movements may be set for you to do in your own time at home.
2. Pain management or reduction techniques
Treatment such as stress management, relaxation, imaginary techniques, and reprogramming emotional events can be an integral part of regular treatment.
It’s important to learn self-help techniques and to practice them regularly, especially at the beginning of your time with us.
Some people do have to live with some level of pain, but our aim is to help you regain your lifestyle. Regular practice of such techniques may give considerable relief and the techniques can be useful at more stressful times when pain can worsen.
3. Education about your condition and therapies
Education is a most important aspect and is included in all pain management programmes.
Together we will explore the origins of your pain. Information about the initial onset of pain, acute pain and the gradual progression towards chronic pain can be an empowering process.
In these days of the internet many people have considerable information about their condition, so this education process is important to your treatment. Knowledge gained can then enable you to develop self-help skills and take an active part in managing your pain.
4. Psychological or emotional treatment
When suffering long term pain, whether emotional or physical, one of our key areas is to consider emotions and to release emotions which are affecting you at the present time or may have occurred in the past.
In every consultation emotions will be taken into consideration, if appropriate.
5. Clearly defined goals
Setting goals is an integral part of our treatment.
Starting with your first treatment will be a holistic goal to regain lifestyle. This goal may change as you move through your treatment.
Kinesiology treatment enables personal development and self growth.
